This week your family will GET INTO Philippians 2:4-5. You’ll be reminded to have the ATTITUDE of Jesus and put the INTERESTS of others front and center as you ACT IT OUT this week with your family.

After the video remind your family that this week you’ll TALK IT UP and ACT IT OUT together. You’ll find ways you can HAVE the ATTITUDE of Jesus as you LOOK for ways to honor the INTERESTS of other people.

As you TALK IT UP this week, keep track of ideas your family has for ways to ACT OUT the truths of Philippians 2:4-5. And TALK IT UPWARDS by praying together. Ask God to help the ATTITUDE of Jesus grow in your hearts as you ACT IT OUT together.

DAY 1

When you press pause in your life to LOOK carefully at what’s happening around you, where do you see God at work in your world?

DAY 2

What might help you take an INTEREST in more people? or care more deeply about the INTERESTS of people you already know?

DAY 3

If you could HAVE any pet you don’t currently have, what sort of pet would you choose? Why that particular pet?

DAY 4

If your ATTITUDE about life had a color, what color would it be—and why? What color do you think Jesus’ ATTITUDE would be?

DAY 5

Tell about a time your ATTITUDE toward something or someone changed quickly. What happened?

Keep track of your family’s suggestions for ways to develop an ATTITUDE like Jesus’. As a family, pick 1—or more!—of the ideas you’ve come up with and ACT IT OUT. Remember to ask God for help as you and your family adjust your ATTITUDES!

These questions will help your family connect keywords back to Philippians 2:4-5. Answer all the questions or pick just 1 or 2—whatever works for your family!

  • God is so powerful and present. If God wants people to LOOK toward Him, why do you think God made it possible for people to LOOK the other way and ignore Him?
  • When you take an INTEREST in other people, you have to set aside thinking about yourself—at least for a while. How easy or hard do you think it is for most people to focus on others first? For you? Why do you think that is?
  • What’s something you HAVE that you’d defend if robbers showed up? How would you protect it? What’s the plan?
  • Paul, who wrote the letter to the Philippians, urges us to have the ATTITUDE that Jesus had. When you think about your current ATTITUDE toward most things, whose ATTITUDE does it remind you of? a parent’s? a friend’s? a teacher’s? your pet’s? a particular cartoon character’s? Jesus’?
  • Given what you discovered in Philippians 2:4-5, how might you change the way you treat God, your family, and others?
